A seguir selecionamos um artigo que trata da utiliza\u00e7\u00e3o de compostos extra\u00eddos de plantas no combate \u00e0s larvas dos mosquitos <em>Aedes aegypti<\/em>, vetores da dengue e outras arboviroses. Venha com a gente entender melhor.<\/span><\/p><\/div><div data-breakout=\"normal\"><p id=\"viewer-aobrb\" class=\"DFnp0 WloJR SLuLS _6qLM3\" dir=\"auto\"><span class=\"akGp8 SLuLS\"> \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Muitos medicamentos que usamos atualmente para tratar enfermidades s\u00e3o constitu\u00eddos \u00e0 base de plantas ou de subst\u00e2ncias qu\u00edmicas extra\u00eddas de plantas. O uso de compostos vegetais para fins m\u00e9dicos \u00e9 relatado h\u00e1 centenas de anos e muitos estudos comprovam a efetividade deles no tratamento de doen\u00e7as. Ainda assim, h\u00e1 muitas esp\u00e9cies de plantas com potencial biol\u00f3gico inexplorado.<\/span><\/p><\/div><div data-breakout=\"normal\"><p id=\"viewer-stj8\" class=\"DFnp0 WloJR SLuLS _6qLM3\" dir=\"auto\"><span class=\"akGp8 SLuLS\"> \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Esses compostos fazem parte do metabolismo secund\u00e1rio das plantas, ou seja, atuam principalmente na defesa e prote\u00e7\u00e3o contra herbivoria e infec\u00e7\u00f5es microbianas. Apesar de recentes, os estudos sobre subst\u00e2ncias extra\u00eddas de plantas com potencial larvicida (que causa a mortalidade de larvas) para controlar o avan\u00e7o de doen\u00e7as transmitidas pelos mosquitos<em> Aedes aegypti<\/em> j\u00e1 est\u00e3o mostrando bons resultados. As larvas, ao contr\u00e1rio dos mosquitos <em>Aedes <\/em>adultos, encontram-se em locais espec\u00edficos onde h\u00e1 \u00e1gua acumulada, facilitando o controle atrav\u00e9s do uso de subst\u00e2ncias que as eliminem. J\u00e1 os mosquitos adultos se ocultam em lugares de mais dif\u00edcil visualiza\u00e7\u00e3o e, portanto, de mais dif\u00edcil controle. Al\u00e9m disso, atuando no combate \u00e0s larvas impedimos que o ciclo de vida dos mosquitos se complete, contribuindo assim para diminuir a transmiss\u00e3o das arboviroses.<\/span><\/p><\/div><div data-breakout=\"normal\"><p id=\"viewer-f2tm2\" class=\"DFnp0 WloJR SLuLS _6qLM3\" dir=\"auto\"><span class=\"akGp8 SLuLS\"> \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Mas afinal, qual seria a vantagem de utilizar extratos de plantas no combate ao mosquito <em>Aedes<\/em>, ao inv\u00e9s de continuarmos utilizando os inseticidas convencionais? Em primeiro lugar, devido ao uso intensivo e descontrolado de praguicidas, muitos mosquitos est\u00e3o se tornando resistentes aos m\u00e9todos convencionais de controle, como inseticidas e repelentes, fazendo com que estes n\u00e3o apresentem mais o efeito esperado. Al\u00e9m disso, sabe-se que estes m\u00e9todos possuem certa toxicidade ao meio ambiente e podem prejudicar outros organismos al\u00e9m das esp\u00e9cies-alvo, aumentando seus impactos sobre as rela\u00e7\u00f5es ecol\u00f3gicas.<\/span><\/p><\/div><div data-hook=\"rcv-block8\"><span class=\"akGp8 SLuLS\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<\/span>Os resultados que iremos mostrar a seguir foram obtidos a partir de um estudo que avaliou o potencial larvicida dos compostos extra\u00eddos de plantas de diferentes fam\u00edlias e de sua composi\u00e7\u00e3o qu\u00edmica. Nessa pesquisa, foram avaliadas 49 subst\u00e2ncias de origem vegetal pertencentes a plantas de 4 fam\u00edlias bot\u00e2nicas, al\u00e9m de outros compostos ativos distribu\u00eddos em outras 16 fam\u00edlias.<\/div><div data-breakout=\"normal\"><p id=\"viewer-t2w1a25974\" class=\"DFnp0 WloJR SLuLS _6qLM3\" dir=\"auto\"><span class=\"akGp8 SLuLS\"> \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Para os experimentos no qual o estudo se baseia foram utilizadas partes das plantas (como folhas, caule ou frutos) para extrair os compostos cujo potencial larvicida foi investigado. O extrato puro de cada um desses compostos foi dilu\u00eddo em menores concentra\u00e7\u00f5es. Al\u00e9m disso, os compostos obtidos de cada planta passaram por an\u00e1lises a fim de determinar seus constituintes. Por \u00faltimo, as larvas dos mosquitos foram colocadas em um ambiente aqu\u00e1tico para que se desenvolvessem normalmente e, ent\u00e3o, foram expostas a diferentes concentra\u00e7\u00f5es desses extratos, por 24 ou 48 horas, em condi\u00e7\u00f5es controladas de laborat\u00f3rio, para avaliar como a concentra\u00e7\u00e3o dos distintos extratos influenciou a taxa de mortalidade das larvas de mosquitos <em>Aedes aegypti<\/em>.<\/span><\/p><\/div><div data-breakout=\"normal\"><p id=\"viewer-xrt1l26183\" class=\"DFnp0 WloJR SLuLS _6qLM3\" dir=\"auto\"><span class=\"akGp8 SLuLS\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Os resultados do experimento foram avaliados aplicando os extratos de diferentes concentra\u00e7\u00f5es sobre ambientes aqu\u00e1ticos j\u00e1 com as larvas em desenvolvimento. Os compostos considerados mais eficientes s\u00e3o os que levam a uma maior mortalidade de larvas em menos tempo, e quando utilizados em concentra\u00e7\u00f5es mais baixas.<\/span><\/p><\/div><div data-breakout=\"normal\"><p id=\"viewer-f6ced\" class=\"DFnp0 WloJR SLuLS _6qLM3\" dir=\"auto\"><span class=\"akGp8 SLuLS\"> \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Da fam\u00edlia Fabaceae, as esp\u00e9cies do g\u00eanero <em>Lonchocarpus <\/em>foram as que mais se destacaram por possuir a\u00e7\u00e3o larvicida. Da Fam\u00edlia Rutaceae, que \u00e9 muito citada na literatura por possuir a\u00e7\u00e3o larvicida e repelente, a esp\u00e9cie que mais se destacou foi <em>Poncirus trifoliata<\/em>, conhecida como lim\u00e3o-amargo. O g\u00eanero <em>Piper<\/em> foi o que mais se destacou na Fam\u00edlia Piperaceae, especialmente a esp\u00e9cie <em>Piper nigrum <\/em>(pimenta-preta ou pimenta do reino). Portanto, essa esp\u00e9cie \u00e9 muito promissora na utiliza\u00e7\u00e3o como um praguicida. Os \u00f3leos extra\u00eddos das plantas das Fam\u00edlias Rutaceae e Fabaceae apresentam grandes concentra\u00e7\u00f5es de flavon\u00f3ides e roten\u00f3ides, respectivamente, que tamb\u00e9m s\u00e3o compostos qu\u00edmicos muito citados na literatura por apresentarem a\u00e7\u00e3o inseticida.<\/div><div data-breakout=\"normal\"><p id=\"viewer-fgv25\" class=\"DFnp0 WloJR SLuLS _6qLM3\" dir=\"auto\"><span class=\"akGp8 SLuLS\"> \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Todos os extratos anteriormente citados apresentaram atividade larvicida contra <em>Aedes aegypti. <\/em>No entanto, pode-se perceber que algumas esp\u00e9cies apresentaram melhores resultados, como <em>Lonchocarpus chiricanus<\/em> (Fam\u00edlia Fabaceae), <em>Derris trifoliata <\/em>(Fam\u00edlia Fabaceae), <em>Poncirus trifoliata <\/em>(Fam\u00edlia Rutaceae),<em> Piper nigrum <\/em>(Fam\u00edlia Piperaceae) e <em>Cordia curassavica <\/em>(Fam\u00edlia Boraginaceae). Dentre as esp\u00e9cies vegetais analisadas, a que mais se destacou foi <em>Poncirus trifoliata<\/em> (popularmente conhecida como lim\u00e3o-amargo). Isso porque, mesmo em baixas concentra\u00e7\u00f5es, o composto extra\u00eddo dessa planta foi eficiente para causar a mortalidade de 50% da popula\u00e7\u00e3o de larvas de mosquitos submetidos ao teste em 24h. Por outro lado, <em>Calodendrum capense<\/em> (popularmente conhecido como castanheira-do-cabo) foi a esp\u00e9cie que menos se destacou por exigir grandes concentra\u00e7\u00f5es do composto para causar uma mortalidade significativa de larvas.<\/span><\/p><\/div><div data-breakout=\"normal\"><p id=\"viewer-a2eli\" class=\"DFnp0 WloJR SLuLS _6qLM3\" dir=\"auto\"><span class=\"akGp8 SLuLS\"> \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Com isso percebe-se que os compostos extra\u00eddos de algumas plantas podem atuar como larvicidas contra <em>Aedes aegypti<\/em>. No entanto, apesar dos resultados se mostrarem muito promissores, estes experimentos s\u00e3o realizados como uma primeira etapa no desenvolvimento de praguicidas. Portanto, novos testes precisam ser desenvolvidos seguindo os protocolos da Ag\u00eancia Nacional de Vigil\u00e2ncia Sanit\u00e1ria (ANVISA), \u00f3rg\u00e3o que regulamenta produtos usados no controle de insetos.
